

Betty M. Stoeppler, 78, of Springfield, died at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Pleasant Hill Village in Girard. Betty was born on May 5, 1938, the daughter of Calvin and Theresa "Chick" Bumpus Robinson. She married Robert W. Stoeppler in Springfield on April 21, 1978; he preceded her in death on October 30, 2012. Betty was a member of Church of the Little Flower, National Rifle Association, and the Eagles Club. She and her husband were past owners of Bobs Butternut Hut. Betty enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Betty was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patricia Charles; and the father of her children, Harvey Garecht, Sr. She is survived by her children, Kim (John) Garecht-Smith of Divernon, Karen (Bruce) Harmening of Athens, Harvey (Carol) Garecht Jr. of Williamsville, Kitty (Don) Donath of Springfield, and Andrew (Tricia) Garecht of Springfield; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and one on the way; step-daughter, Michelle Stoeppler of St. Louis, MO; brother-in-law, Marion Charles of Springfield; one niece, two nephews, and many cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield, IL 62703. Cremation will follow the visitation. Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, with Msgr. John R. Ossola, officiant.
