

Beverly "Bev" Hanselman-Wessing, 63, of Springfield, died at 8:25 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at her home. Bev was born April 1, 1949, the daughter of Eugene and Clara DeSalle Hanselman. She married Terry Wessing Sr. on April 12, 1969 at Church of the Little Flower; he preceded her in death on March 6, 2008. Bev was a 1967 graduate of Springfield High School and worked as a secretary to Senate staff for 34 years. She served as an election judge and volunteered at St. Cabrini Catholic Church activities. Along with being a member of St. Cabrini Catholic Church, she was also a loyal supporter of St. Jude's. Bev liked to play bingo, was an avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed camping, traveling, crafting, spending time with family and going to casinos. She was also preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. She is survived by one son, Terry R. (wife, Dawn) Wessing, Jr. of Springfield; one daughter, Tara (husband, Jason) Gail of Springfield; one grandchild, Bristol Lynn Wessing of Springfield; mother-in-law, Nellie "Betsy" Britz of Springfield; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including a special cousin, Charles (wife, Denise) Irwin of Decatur. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Homes, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Additional visitation will be held from 10:00 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at St. Cabrini Catholic Church. Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at St. Cabrini Catholic Church, 1020 N. Milton Ave., Springfield, with Rev. Richard L. Chiola, celebrant.
