Beverly A Murray

Beverly A. (Shaw) Murray, 85, of Springfield, passed away on February 19, 2024 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born on January 27, 1939 in Atlantic, Iowa to Francis Kenneth Hays and Una Beatrice Jones. Beverly was later adopted by Ernest “Wayne” and Martha “Louise” Shaw of Charles City, Iowa.

Mrs. Murray is survived by two daughters: Brenda (Randy) Pros and Jennifer (Tony Rocha) Murray both of Springfield, four grandchildren: Zach (Angela) Murray, Laurisa Murray, Beau Murray and Tommy Britenstine and five great-grandchildren: Laurina, Antauris and Olivia Griffin, Delilah Meyer and Addison Murray. She was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband Laurence “Bill” Murray, one daughter Laurena Murray and her siblings: Beatrice Langford, Lyle Bills, Wayne Hays, Eugene Hays, James Hays and Joel Alderdice.

Beverly worked as a teacher for Springfield District 186 and she retired in 2002. She was a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association and St. John’s Lutheran Church. At St. John’s she sang in the chancel choir, taught Sunday school and helped set up the pre-school program.

Cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday February 26, 2024 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2477 West Washington Street, Springfield, Illinois 62702. The family will greet friends from 10:00 am until the time of service Monday at Church.
