
Beverly Jean "Doll" Reed, 73, of Springfield, passed peacefully at 5:50 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at St. John's Hospital. Beverly was born April 30, 1939 in Kankakee, the daughter of Thomas and Loretta Brennan Woodruff. She married Bill Frances Reed on February 14, 1958 in Decatur; he preceded her in death in 1970. Beverly was a graduate of Stephen-Decatur High School and retired from the State. She worked for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and was a very proud union member. She also belonged to a bowling league and was active in the senior community. She lived at Bonansinga High Rise, and then at Sangamon Towers, where she was a member of the Sangamon Towers Jam Band. Beverly raised three great daughters and was never afraid to take on something new. She loved the slot machines and politics, was a huge Democrat, and enjoyed spending time with friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Thomas and Bill Woodruff. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Delores Reed of Springfield, Deborah Jean Reed of Portland, OR, and Brenda Reed of Springfield; one sister, Nancy Boriff; two brothers, Thomas Gilbert and Walter Jones; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many extended family and friends. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Graveside Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Graceland Cemetery in Decatur, with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Family and friends are invited to join in celebration of Beverly's life on Saturday, June 16, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza, 3000 S. Dirksen Pkwy, Springfield, Illinois.
