

Bonnie “Bonita” Harwood, 70, of Springfield, died at 4:15 p.m. Monday, November 01, 2004 at St. John’s Hospital. Bonnie was born June 23, 1934 in Franklin the daughter of Alta and Ruby Bull Hamilton. She married John Harwood and he preceded her in death December 29, 2001. Ms. Harwood was a graduate of Franklin High school. She was employed by the State of Illinois Department of Revenue as a supervisor for 14 years. She was part owner and operator of Bonnie’s Lounge for 18 ½ years. She was a member of American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) and past member of Disabled American Veterans (DAV). She also bowled on the tavern leagues. She was also preceded in death by her parents, great grandson, Dakota John Dyer; one brother, Larry Hamilton, one sister: Gloria Schleyhahn. She is survived by one daughter: Sherry Hamilton of Springfield; one granddaughter: Nikki (husband, Chris) Dyer of Springfield; step-son: Mike Harwood of San Diego, CA; three great grandchildren: Michaela Nichole, John Dakota and Joseph Alexander Dyer all of Springfield; two brothers including: Ronnie (wife, Theresa Thompson) Hamilton Thompson of Anna, IL; one sister and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Family will receive friends from 4-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield with Jay Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Burn Center C/O Memorial Medical Center Foundation, 701 N. 1st St., Springfield, IL 62702.
