Brian A. Schackmann

Brian A. Schackmann, 55, of Springfield, died on Friday, January 27, 2017 at his home. Brian was born June 12, 1961 in Springfield, the son of James Carl and Lois Newell Schackmann. He married Mary McDaid on February 11, 1982 in Springfield. Brian graduated from Springfield High School and attended Lincoln Land Community College and UIS. He served his community through many capacities through his employment and involvement in politics. He was most recently employed with the State of Illinois, IL Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and was previously employed as a Liquor Inspector for Sangamon County. He was a lifelong loyal Republican. Brian was an avid Minnesota Vikings and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved cooking Sunday dinners for his family and hosting for others. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James H. Schackmann. He is survived by his wife, Mary Schackmann of Springfield; daughters, Jenny (husband, Ryan) Vaughn and Samantha (fianc, Brandon Pettersen) Schackmann, both of Chatham; granddaughter, Zoey Vaughn; sister, Linda Lowe of Springfield; aunt, Barb Farrand; one cousin; several nieces and nephews; and many friends that are family. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following visitation. A private family graveside ceremony will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.
