

Carl Febus, 66, of Buffalo, died unexpectedly in Buffalo, IL on Friday, February 27, 2015. He was born in Springfield, IL on December 2, 1948 to William and Maxine (Bozarth) Febus. He attended Illiopolis School and later in life he took some classes at Lincoln Land Community College. He served in active duty in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Upon his return home, he farmed for several years. He had a variety of part-time jobs including painting and driving a school bus for Tri-City School. He retired from the Chatham Post Office. Carl was involved in several area churches over the years including Copeland Christian Church, Buffalo Christian Church, Niantic Foursquare Church, and Calvary Temple Christian Center. He enjoyed collecting John Deere items, coins, and watching agricultural shows on television. He married his first wife Nancy (Larson) Febus in 1971. They had four children, Matthew Febus, Julia Prevost (husband, Eric; sons, Keith and Taylor), Jesse Febus (wife, Melissa; sons, James and Logan), and Timothy Febus (wife, Ashley). He was remarried in 2007 to Barbara (Henry-Sullivan) Febus who has three children, Christopher Henry (son, Jacob), Colleen Houston (husband, Joe; son, Parker), and Stephanie Cullen (husband, John). Carl is also survived by two sisters, Linda Hendrickson (husband, Robert) and Rita Ross (husband, Dan); and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Prevost officiating. Graveside Committal Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Department of Defense.
