Carole Lynne Applegate

Carole Lynne Applegate, 70, of Springfield, died at 10:10 p.m. on Friday, May 28, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center. Carole was born December 18, 1939 in Lincoln, the daughter of Edwin C. and Odelle Aceridge Ramsey. She married Robert L. Applegate on June 26, 1976 at Laurel United Methodist Church in Springfield. He preceded her in death in 2009. Carole graduated from Feitshans High School in 1967 and earned her Bachelor's Degree in social work from U of I Springfield in 1990. She was a member of Cherry Hills Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a kind and gentle woman who was always being helpful to others. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading and quilting. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son, Dominic John (wife, Nydia) Gasperi of Santa Clarita, CA; two step-sons, Mark Wayne (wife, Jaci) Applegate of Tucson, AZ and Gregory James (wife, Cindy) Applegate of Milwaukee, WI; two daughters, Deborah Lynne McBride and Brenda Kay (husband, Troy) Vilayhong, both of Springfield; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two brothers, Robert (wife, Joanne) Ramsey of Machesney Park, IL and Richard (wife, Karen) Ramsey of West Bend, WI; one sister, Sandra (husband, James) Buske of Rockton, IL; and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Nelson and Rev. Milton Bost officiating.
