

She was born in Springfield on February 12, 1935, the daughter of Clarence E. and Florence J. (Stengel) Jenot. Carolyn married Judge William H. Chamberlain, and he preceded her in death in 1972. She later married Vern Eyre in Springfield on March 9, 1979.
Carolyn graduated from Springfield High School with the class of 1953. She later earned her bachelor’s degree from St. John’s School of Medical Technology in 1956. Carolyn retired from Central Illinois Community Blood Center in 1996. She also served on the Illinois State Board of Elections from 1978-1979. Carolyn was a member of Springfield Junior League, Springfield Ceramics and Crafts Club, and various other organizations throughout the years. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bridge and mahjong, reading a good book, going on camping trips, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Vern.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Carolyn is survived by her sons, William H. (Sharon) Chamberlain of Lincolnshire and Robert J. (Laura) Chamberlain of Naperville; daughters, Karen (Jon) Greene of Potomac, MD, and Lisa (Ken) Seitz of Grand Junction, CO; stepdaughter, Beth Degenhart of Colorado Springs, CO; and stepson, David (Cathy) Eyre of Arizona. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Caroline and Drennan Greene (children of Karen and Jon), Agnes and Henry Chamberlain (children of William and Sharon), Judd, Reid and Audrey Chamberlain (children of Robert and Laura), and Gina and Jacob Head; step-grandchildren, Justin (Sara) Degenhart, Kristin (Derek) Yelinek, and Vincent Eyre; and several cousins.
Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will receive friends at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Concordia Village, 4101 W. Iles Ave., Springfield, until the time of the Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Jeff Harter officiating.
Private burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Benevolent Care, Christ Care, and Scholarship Fund, all at Concordia Village.
