Carolyn L. Short

Carolyn L. Short, 77, of Springfield, passed away at 6:02 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2014 at St. Joseph's Home. Carolyn was born June 29, 1937 in Springfield, the daughter of Alexander William and Mary L. Andrulis Kunz. She married Richard Short at St. Aloysius on July 10, 1954 and he preceded her in death. Carolyn was a Religion Teacher for Ursuline Academy. She was a member of Holy Name Society, Dominican Laity, and the Heart Felt Program Volunteers at Memorial Medical Center. She was a Samaritan at St. John's Hospital in the Pastoral Care Program and a member of Cathedral's Resurrection Choir where she also served on the Holy Hour Adoration Team. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Anthony Klasing; and an infant brother. She is survived by her sons, Michael A. (wife, Sherri) Short and Joel E. Short, both of Springfield; her daughters, Maria (companion, Mark Johnson) Enlow and Sara (husband, David) Decatoire, both of Springfield; five grandchildren, Anthony, Lucas, and Natalie Enlow, Alec Short, and Grace Decatoire; sister, Lorraine Kornfeld of Springfield, IL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and son-in-law, James R. Enlow of Springfield. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at St. Joseph's Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014 at St. Joseph's Church with Rev. Steven Janoski, celebrant.
