Catherine "Trink" Best

Catherine "Trink" Best, 76, of Springfield, died Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at her home. Catherine was born November 22, 1931, the daughter of Gertrude and Walter Best Sr. Catherine graduated from Feitshans High School. Over the years, she was employed at Hobbs Manufacturing Company, at Kent's IGA and at Springfield Marine Bank. However, Catherine's life above all was devoted to selflessly caring for her parents during their long illnesses. "Trink" was special to so many, always more than ready to make any sacrifice for family and friends which of course made her everyone's favorite aunt. Catherine was a member of the Church of the Little Flower. She was also an avid Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Walter, William, James and Gerald Best; and her sister, Mary Jane Vespa. She is survived by her brother, Raymond Best of Idaho; and by her sisters, Stella Fee of Sherman and Dorothy Cour of Springfield. Catherine was also the beloved aunt of twenty five nieces and nephews and great aunt and great-great- aunt to many others. Family will receive friends from 10:00 10:45 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2008 at Church of the Little Flower, 800 Adlai Stevenson Dr., Springfield. Funeral Mass will follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
