Catherine A. Cohnen

Catherine A. “Becky” Cohnen, 76, of Springfield, died at 3:02 p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2004 at her residence. Catherine was born July 10, 1927 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Joseph G. and Mabel Beam Rebecca. She married Marvin E. Cohnen in 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1987. She was a graduate of Lanphier High School. She was employed at Sangamo Electric, Sandy’s (which later became Hardee’s) from 1969 – 1973 and then began her career as a Tax Payer Correspondent for the State of Illinois Dept. of Revenue in 1973, retiring in Dec. 1990 after 17 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter: Rebecca Y. Cole in 1966 and sister: Carrie Glassi. She is survived by her son: Marvin R.(fiancé, Donna Tilley) Cohnen of Peoria, AZ, brother: William H. Cullimore of Springfield, sister: Marie Martin of Phoenix, AZ and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 :00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Scott Brindley officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
