Catherine Joann Hagstrom

Catherine Joann Hagstrom, 45, of Riverton, died at 9:33 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at her home. Cathy was born March 22, 1965 in Springfield, the daughter of Jerome and Joan Bishop Zink. She married John Hagstrom on September 8, 2007 in Las Vegas, NV. Cathy graduated from Lanphier High School in 1983 and worked as a correctional officer for the Sangamon County Sherriff's Dept. for 23 years. She received a medal of merit from the Sangamon County Sherriff's Dept and was a member of A.B.A.T.E. of IL and the Springfield Hog Chapter. Cathy was full of life and always had a smile on her face. She loved riding her two Harley Davidson motorcycles, traveling, her three cats and she was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Anna Zink. She is survived by her husband, John Hagstrom of Springfield; step-father, Paul Schmidt of Springfield; father-in-law, Richard Hagstrom of Towanda; siblings, Michael (wife, Gina) Bishop of Springfield, Steven (wife, Carolyn) Zink of Springfield, Paula Ferrier of Sherman, Paulie Schmidt of Springfield and Christian Schmidt of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 8, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
