

Charles Walter Baker, Jr., 74, of Alexander, died at 10:00 am on Friday, August 22, 2008 at Golden Moments Senior Care Center in Jacksonville. Charles was born December 11, 1933 in New Berlin, the son of Charles Walter, Sr. and Dorothy Sandidge Baker. He married Mary Robbins Carroll on April 29, 1966 in Jacksonville. Mr. Baker worked for Jim Newell as a painter before going out on his own. Painting was what he loved to do and he was very successful at it. His clients included doctors, lawyers, and businessmen. His sons Chuck and Garry later joined the business, which they carry on today. In his spare time, Mr. Baker loved to hunt and fish, watch Cardinal baseball and be with his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Judy Canfield. He is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Charles "Chuck" (wife, Janette) Baker, Eddie (wife, Brenda) Baker, Larry Baker, and Cheryl Falzone, all of Jacksonville, Garry (wife, Dawn) Baker of Murrayville, Bob (wife, Kate) Carroll of Franklin, and Bill Carroll of Beardstown; seventeen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; his siblings, Norma Moffitt of Springfield, Peggy (husband, Sal) DeLucia of Long Island, NY, Harold (wife, Rosemary) Baker of Springfield, and Gene (wife, Evelyn) of New Berlin; in addition to many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at McCullough-Delaney and Butler Funeral Home, 714 E. Gibson, New Berlin, IL 62670. A funeral ceremony will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at McCullough-Delaney and Butler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Wood Wreath Cemetery.
