
Charles E. Black, 90, of Springfield, died Wednesday November 22, 2017 at Heritage Health Hospice in Springfield. He was born on March 10, 1927 in Jacksonville, IL., to Clyde D. Black Sr., and Ethyl Hughes Black. Charles married Mary E. Stinebaker on July 31, 1949 in Jacksonville.
Charles graduated from Jacksonville High School. He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater. He retired from the State of Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Charles was a member of Cotton Hill United Methodist Church (formerly Woodside United Methodist Church) and a member of the VFW Post 755. Mr. Black was an avid golfer and a big fan of the Fighting Illini and St. Louis Cardinals and he loved spending time with his family.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. He is survived by his wife Mary, two daughters: Susan (Gary) Dameron and Kim (Bob) Collebrusco all of Springfield.
