Charles W. McGrath

Charles W. McGrath, of Springfield, died on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at St. John's Hospice. Charles was born on August 21, 1926 in Murrayville, the son of James and Ellen McQuire McGrath. He married Rosina N. Cervellone on September 28, 1957 at St. Joseph Church in Springfield. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army and has been a member for 60 years of Local 137 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sisters, Regina and Sr. Rita McGrath; and three brothers, George, Paul, and Richard. He is survived by his wife, Rosina McGrath of Springfield; son, John McGrath of TX; two daughters, Joan (husband, Dr. Jeffery) Suzewits of MO and Catherine McGrath of Chicago; grandchildren, Katherine and Andrew Suzewits of MO; two sisters, Mary McGrath of Springfield and Helen Fabro of FL; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 11:00 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut, Springfield. Funeral Mass: 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Rev. Jeff Grant, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
