Cheryl L. Lawrence

Cheryl was born August 24, 1947, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Bud and Shirley (Staley) Trenter. She married Larry Lawrence on February 6, 1967, in Galesburg, IL.

Cheryl graduated from Springfield High School in 1965 and earned her bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University in Education. She retired from UIS after many years of service. Cheryl was a member of the Garden Club of Springfield and enjoyed crafts, gardening, traveling, and above all else, spending time with her family and her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dean Trenter.

Cheryl is survived by her husband of 54 years, Larry Lawrence of Chatham; son, David Lawrence of Petersburg; daughter, Cari (Aaron) Hudy of Newport Beach, CA; grandchildren, Bo, Ali, and Ava Hudy; sisters, Lori Thomas (husband, Steve; daughter, Sophie) of Virginia, IL and Marina (Tim) Chestnut of Rochester; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.

Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Butler Funeral Home-Chatham, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, IL. A Memorial Ceremony will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. COVID protocols will be followed.
