My sympathy goes out to your family.  She was a great lady!  I had the wonderful pleasure and opportunity to meet and learn from her.  She was a dynamic speaker and demonstrated a down-to-earth approach, as well as, a dedicated adovocate for individuals with disabilities.  She had an endless wealth of knowledge and information.  She shared her creative talents and assistive devices that helped many individuals.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Cilla will be missed.  She was a great advocate and a great person.

I was shocked to hear of Cilla's passing. I met her through her friend,my son Marlin Thomas, and I became her friend as well. She was so kind to me when my son passed. She was very passionate in her advocacy for disability rights. I hold the family in my thoughts and prayers for peace and comfort. Love,

Cilla was the oompah in our work as advocates. We always knew we could count on her to stand her ground. She will be gravely missed.

Cilla was a smart, sassy, wonderful person who was also incredibly curious and proactive.  I could always count on Cilla to be on the right page of social justice critique (or should I say the left page?). She always made me feel welcome and appreciated.  I will miss her very much, and when the struggle is hard, it helps me to remember people like Cilla.

May positive memories help you in this time of sadness.  My thoughts and prayers for the family.

I didn't  know Cilla personally, but  I know her mom and sister as their priest and pastor, so I know  from whence she comes and I am not surprised by what she has accomplished and how greatly she is missed. To Cilla's family...a hug from afar and a promise of prayers.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Cilla. We very much enjoyed meeting and working for her and Mike and she will be greatly missed.

I only know of Cilla through others, but they are people I respect and like.  For her from Drew and I in tandem.  We've lost a Worker, but the Work lives on. Thanks for being a part of the Work Cilla.
 
 We do the Work
 The Work is not online, out of touch, over budget
 The Work is outside your zone, or on the streets, often in someone's face
 The Work is not sexy, stylish, neither synthetic nor shallow
 It can't be because the Work is very, very hard...
 Back breaking, mind blowing, soul searing...
 HARD.
 It's in the homeless shelters and shanty towns
 in the food pantry and the farmer's fields
 in the crisis centers and city streets. 

It makes us sweat, cry and even scream
 It makes us flail, fail, fall and go at it again
 To finish the Work is only a dream
 It will never end.
 We do the Work to change
 Change hunger, homelessness, poverty, despair
 one human life for the better and go on...because...
 The Work never ends.
 
The Work doesn't care.
 If you have a job and are tired.
 If you are sick or retired.
 If you have no time or other things to do.
 If you think need can't happen to you.
 If you are a capitalist, communist, socialist, or realist or nihilist.
 If you are a Democrat, Republican, Green or Independent.

 If you CARE...
 The Work requires only one thing,
 Your willingness to do it.
 
When people starve, are sick, in dire straights, or dying.
 When people give up, on themselves, their family, children or nation.
 The Work once done is undone.
 It is undone because We are not done.
 
Fewer people do the Work these days
 Many support it, say they'd do more if they could or knew what they should do
 Many forget, that at some point,
 Somewhere, somehow, someone was doing the Work and it helped them.
 
There is no reward for doing the Work.
 No plaudits, plaques or gold watches.
 Those it helps may not seem to appreciate it.
 Others mock it, degrade it, decry and deny it.
 They hate you for wanting to do the work, let alone doing it.
 They say it's pointless,hopeless, futile and foolish.
 Don't listen to the naysayers, the "no's" and "not nows"
 Don't ever believe them.
 It must be "yes!" and "RIGHT NOW!"
 We have no choice anymore...
 But to do the Work.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Cilla's passing.  She was a passionate and tireless advocate for the rights of people with disabilities. Her presence will be sorely missed, but her fighting spirit will continue to be with us.  Michael and her daughters and mother, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Cilla had a positive impact on many lives.  She was such a giving person and always making people laugh.  She will be missed so much.  May the memories of her give strength and support to her family, relatives, and  friends in this time of need.  My prayers and thoughts go out to her family and friends.

I met Cilla this year during an Occupy event at Rep. Aaron Schock's office.  We became Facebook friends and continued to communicate through cyberspace.  Where ever advocates were gathering, she was there.  She was definitely a voice for the voiceless and her activism will certainly be missed in Springfield.

In her words and actions Cilla let her life speak volumes about her commitment to a better world for everyone and stood as an example to many of us. She was a mentor and a friend, and will be missed profoundly even by those of us to have only had the privilege of making her acquaintance in the last year. Goodbye Cilla, Solidarity Forever.

Oh dear Cilla fellow comrade and dear friend I will forever miss you! Mike keep the faith the work continues. Mrs Schluge, girls and Mike you filled her heart with joy and so much love.

Cilla was a wonderful woman. I remember meeting her  in graduate school and feeling so grateful and relieved to find someone else that was "Awake" and as aware of the sickness in our society. I was so happy to meet her again.  She was a beautiful human being.

We are still in shock over Cilla's passing. She was passionate about her beliefs and a loyal friend to so many. It is truly remarkable how many lives Cilla touched. She was a crusader & champion of rights for people with disabilities and her laughter would light up a room. We who are left to mourn are so very blessed that our paths crossed with this great humanitarian. Cilla will never be forgotten & we will always love her. Cilla had a big heart for friends and family while having a fierce determination when fighting for disability rights.  She touched so many lives and will be missed for her personality and all that she has done.  My heart and prayers with Michael, Christi, and the rest of the family.

I want to express my sympathy to Mike and the rest of Cilla's family. Although I only knew her for a short time, I was always inspired by her dedication and enthusiasm to help those in need. A wonderful lady who left a lasting impression on me.

Oh Cilla. We've lost a champion for justice and equality. We've also lost someone who could crack a great joke and make everyone laugh, often under circumstances that were very serious.

I am at at loss on how to put into a few words all that Cil was to our family. Her kind heart, wise words and sympathetic ear were always comforting. But her sense of humor was a quality few could resist. It is no surprise she touched so many people with her passion for fighting for others. But she touched her family just as strongly and we will miss her always!

Condolences to Mike and all of Cilla's family and friends. Never felt such a loss for someone I've known so briefly.

I remember working with Cilla when I went to SHS in the Co-Op program when I was 17. I am now 28 and still remember her and is shocked to see her go so soon. I remember the fun times we had at IATP! You are remembered by me! RIP!

What a loss!  Cilla literally touched thousands of lives in a very positive way.  At IATP she was the "go to" person whose mind contained a wealth of information from which she could pluck rules, regulations and laws to help people in any variety of difficult situations.  Cilla was a kind soul with the heart of a warrior who fought thru her own pain to help others. Now she can rest, pain free, thru all eternity. She earned it! Godspeed Cilla.

You were one of the first to welcome mr with open arms when I moved to Decatur more than 30 years ago. You welcomed me as a part of your family and let me share in the lives of your children.
