

Clara Jackson, 78, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday August 18, 2012 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg, IL. She was born on May 24, 1934 in Berlin, IL., the daughter of Howard William and Mary Rosina Burger Pitt. She married James L. Jackson Sr. on October 27, 1952 in Springfield, and he preceded her in death on August 29, 1993.
Clara is survived by three sons: Patrick (Mary) Jackson, Michael (Cheryl) Jackson, and Kenny Jackson all of Springfield, one daughter Holly (Darrell) Powell of Springfield, one sister Doris (Art) Zenner of Staunton, one brother Samuel (Judy) Pitt of Springfield, 15 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons: Samuel, Howard, and James Jackson.
Mrs. Jackson was a waitress at Strong’s Café in Springfield, and then went to work for Bunn-O-Matic. She was also a private caretaker to the elderly in Springfield for many years. She enjoyed Bingo, painting, crocheting, reading, Major League Baseball, and fishing on the Illinois River. She was of the Catholic Faith.
A funeral Service will be held at 11:30am on Wednesday August 22, 2012 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen St., with burial to follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4-7pm on Tuesday August 21 at the Funeral home.
