Clifford Charles Cole

Clifford Charles Cole, 60, of rural Mechanicsburg, died at 3:30 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2009 at St. John's Hospice. He was born on July 24, 1949, the son of Hermon Harrison Cole and Margaret H. Cole of St. Louis, MO. He married Jennifer J. Weaver on September 20, 1975 at St. Benedict's Church in Auburn., IL. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Cole, of rural Mechanicsburg; his mother, Margaret Cole of Hilton Head Island, SC; two brothers, Hermon Harrison Cole III (wife, Janet) and William Henry Cole (wife, Sandy) both of St. Louis; mother-in-law, Mary Keller Weaver, of Springfield; two brothers-in-law, Max Richard Weaver (wife, Judy) of Arcola and William E. Weaver of Quincy; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Hermon H. Cole, on July 24, 2008. Cliff served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971 as a Specialist E-5 at Fort Monroe, VA. Prior to coming to the area, he was a golf professional in St. Louis and Jacksonville, FL. He was employed as a Construction Superintendant for Cole Development Company and was owner/operator of Cole Lawn Care. Cliff was involved in numerous clubs and organizations, was an avid Cardinal fan, and especially loved teaching and fostering interest in youth golf and enjoying the camaraderie of his great friends at Cardiac Rehab. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Family will receive friends for a memorial gathering from 4:00 pm until the time of a ceremony at 7:00 pm on Monday, August 17, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date.
