
Clifford P. Langenfeld, 96, of Springfield, died at 1:45 p.m., Saturday, November 08, 2003 at Capitol Care in Springfield. He was born August 11, 1907 in Centralia, IL, the son of Peter and Dorothy Honnecker Langenfeld.. He married Bessie Mae Newman in 1926 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.; she preceded him in death on October 23, 1970. Mr. Langenfeld was a salesman for Newman Brothers. He owned and operated his own used car lot, Langenfeld Motors and was later a sales manager for Pendleton Dodge and Toyota. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, the Cathedral Over 55 Club, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council 364. . He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sons: John and Harry Langenfeld; six brothers: John, Cecil, Bob, Harold, Ed, and Raymond Langenfeld. He is survived by six sons: Clifford J. (wife, Pearl) of Garden Grove, CA, Michael of Springfield, Rev. Thomas of Las Vegas, NV, Richard (wife, Jane) of Dixon, Mark Alan (wife, Meda) of Normal, and Gary P. of St. Peters, MO; three daughters: Catherine “Jean” VanDenBossche of Springfield, Rose Marie (husband, Robert) Weymouth of Island Lake, and Theresa (husband, Dr. Steven) Ulrich of Zanesville, OH; four sisters: Catherine Langenfeld, Virginia Brink, Margie (husband, Herman) Holle and Teresa Langenfeld, all of Centralia; 24 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home on Monday, November 10, 2003 from 4-7:00 p.m. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at 10:00 a.m.at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, with the Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola celebrant. Burial will follow att Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. The family of Clifford P. Langenfeld is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield.
