

Clyde L. Webster, Jr. 87, of Springfield, passed away at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at his residence. Clyde was born September 13, 1915 in Chicago, the son of Clyde and Julia Conway Webster. He married Margaret Murphy on October 17, 1940 in Clayton, Missouri; she preceded him in death August 19, 1979. Mr. Webster began his life in Chicago; he attended several schools in the St. Louis area and graduated from Springfield High School and Springfield Junior College. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran serving in Signal Corp. # 3169. He was a longtime principal of Lanphier and Webster Insurance Agency in Springfield. He was a member of Church of the Little Flower and attended the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, member of the Sangamo Club, Elks Club and Knights of Columbus Council #364. He is survived by a brother; George (wife, Venita) Webster of Davenport, IA. He is survived by three sons: John C. (wife, Donna) Webster of Alton, Jim (Wife, Cindy) Webster of Denver, CO, Joe Webster of St. Charles, MO; three daughters: Judy (husband, Steven) Eveloff, Joan (husband, Tom) Kelty, Julie M. Leibbrand all of Springfield; nineteen grandchildren: Bill, Michael, Dan and Ben Eveloff, Meghan, Katie and Patrick Clyde Webster, Matthew, Michael and Tim Webster, Tom, Travis and Erin Margaret Kelty, Michelle Margaret Webster, Sarah Webster Stolker, Luke and Matthew Webster, Andrew and Nicholas Leibbrand and one great grandson: Jacob Eli Stolker. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 3-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2002. Visitation will begin with a wake service at 3:00 p.m. Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2002 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Reverend John Ossola, principal celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
