

He was born in Springfield on March 27, 1982, the son of Don and Janine K. (Harmony) Kother.
Cody graduated from Tri City High School. He then double majored in criminal justice and sociology and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Bradley University in 2005. At Bradley University, he was part of the soccer team where he was proud to be the senior captain and won the coach’s award in 2005. Cody was also on the Des Moines Menace Semi Pro National Championship Soccer Team where his team won the national championship. He went on to be a certified NASM personal trainer and worked in various roles including serving as head soccer coach for Springfield Spirits and a personal trainer for PowerWorks Fitness in Chatham, IL and Fitness Together in Springfield, IL. Cody was passionate about influencing his clients to challenge their physical and mental abilities to become the best version of themselves. He was also proud to take part in a two-week mission trip to Grand Savann, Haiti, to complete the building of a Christian school.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Zachary Tyler Kother; maternal and paternal grandparents; and aunt, Nancy Dillon.
Cody is survived by his parents; brother, Kyle Andrew Kother; and niece and nephew, Ella and Eli Kother, who were very special to Cody.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home- Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
