

Conrad “Connie” Pohl, 84, of Springfield, died at 9:25 p.m., Saturday, December 25, 2004 at Memorial Medical Center. Connie was born February 22, 1920 in Springfield, the son of Conrad G. and Anna Voight Pohl. He married Mary I. Fitzgibbon on June 1, 1950 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Springfield; she preceded him in death on October 2, 1997. Mr. Pohl was a self employed union painter and a member of the Painters Union Local #90. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Dixon. He is survived by four sons: John, Robert and David (wife, Debbie) Pohl all of Springfield and Jim (wife, Judy) Pohl of Petersburg; four daughters: Mary Ann Pohl, Nancy (husband, Edward) Canny both of Springfield, Kathy (husband, Jeffrey) Sexton of New Berlin and Karen (husband, Craig) Aubuchon of St. Louis, MO; sixteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister: Kathryn Brown of Springfield; brother: James Pohl of Downers Grove and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 4-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos, Springfield with Rev. Peter Harman celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
