

Curt D. Garrett, 57, of New Berlin, formerly of Dawson, passed away at 8:19 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2014 at his residence. Curt was born August 3, 1957 in Springfield, a son of Robert D. and Carol D. Neely Garrett. He married Christina L. Dickey on October 13, 1985 at The Mansion in Riverton. Curt was a 1975 graduate of Tri-City High School. After graduation, he was a proud union member of Boilermakers Local #363 for 38 years until the time of his retirement. Curt was a member of Mechanicsburg Christian Church. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan, loved his music and keeping up with politics. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, F.J. "Buck" and Roberta Trout and Robert H. and Ann Garrett. Curt is survived by his wife, Chris Garrett of New Berlin; two sons, Matthew (wife, Jodi) Garrett of Springfield and Jacob (fianc, Melissa Foreman) Garrett of Taylorville; one daughter, Darcy (friend, Blake Prasun) Garrett of New Berlin; four grandchildren, Kane, Klaire, Nathan and Nolan Garrett; mother, Carol D. Garrett of Rochester; two brothers, Billie Dean "Butch" and Craig Garrett, both of Dawson; and three sisters, Mary Ann McMillan of Palo Alto, CA, Cathie (husband, Randy) Romines of Mechanicsburg, and twin sister Cristy (husband, Randy) Donaldson of Springfield; an uncle, Thomas Trout of Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and the Dickey Family of Taylorville. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, with Pastor Brandon Damm celebrant. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
