

Dalton Eugene Twitty, 73, of Springfield, formerly of Michigan and Florida, died on Thursday, July 28, 2005 at his home. Dalton was born on May 23, 1932, the son of Elmer Thomas and Lizzie Mae Holland Twitty in Blanche, Lincoln County, TN. He married Faye Lewis in 1955 in Michigan and then married Ida Periman Miller in 2001 in Florida. Mr. Twitty was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was employed by the DTI/CN Railroad, retiring in 1998. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States at Flat Rock, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Elmer Twitty, Jr. He is survived by his wife: Ida of Springfield; two daughters: Cindy Twitty of Carleton, MI, Wendy (husband, Mark) LaPlant of Rockwood, MI, three grandchildren: Amy, Randy and Ryan LaPlant all of Rockwood, MI; one sister: Mary Ellen (husband, Bernard) Bindus of MI and AZ; one brother: James Holland (wife, Helen) Twitty of MI and FL; three stepchildren, six step grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation accorded by Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2005 at New Grove Cemetery in Tennessee with Pastor Kathy Krstulovich, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Hospice, 800 E. Carpenter, Springfield, IL 62702. The family of Dalton Eugene Twitty is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield.
