My Deepest condolences to the family of Dan Pippin, I was stunned when I found out about his passing.  When I first started working for Vital Records Dan was such a big help to me…. Whenever I called the office if he was able to help me he would, I learned so much from him and I really appreciated him.  He loved his wife and kids and would speak of them often.  I will be praying for the family.

I was deeply suddened to hear about the passing of Dan. I have worked with him at IDPH/OPR and I can testify to his sincerity and professionalism, but beyond that, I appreciated his integrity. Whenever anyone needed something whether it was help with work or to talk through something perosonal he was always there. I had the previlage to be on his "patio" and around his fire pit for a couple of times and I had the chance to meet his wife Nora and his daughter Addison and some of his friends. Dan was thoughtful, worm and kind. His devotion to family and friends was admirable. Dan was a remarkable guy, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time. I truely hope that your memories of the happier moments will help ease your pain.

I make it a practice to not share personal thoughts or feelings on Facebook but this is warranted. I met Dan when I started working with him in early 2003. We quickly became friends. Batman and Robin. The Lone Ranger and Tonto. Probably more like Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. He was usually one step ahead of me with the comedic first jab but I had my share of them too. That’s how we greeted each other. That’s how we bonded. I would always tell him you don’t look both ways before you cross the road. You look both ways after. That way you’re thankful for what didn’t hit you. We had more gut-wrenching laughter in 15 years than most people have had in a lifetime. He once came into my office and said that Nora graciously took out the garbage last night. I told him that was nice of her. He then said, “but instead of lifting the lid and putting it in the garbage can she just left it on top with the lid still on it.” We laughed nearly all morning about it. Later that day, I put a lid on top of his trash can in his office with a pile of crap on top of it. He definitely made work more fun. And, after being stuck in the same job title for 15 years, he finally made it possible where I could get a promotion, based on merit and good work, of course. He looked after and took care of others. About two years ago, I lost a big tree in my front yard during a storm. The tree snapped in half and was laying across my yard and into the neighbors driveway. My neighbor alerted me of the tree and I immediately called Dan and told him I wouldn’t be at work the next day because I had to do something with the tree. A few hours later, I got home and he and Nora were in my front yard with a chainsaw cutting up the tree. This is what I remember most about Dan. A laugh and a smile. A kind gesture. A thoughtful moment. I can be cold-hearted and cynical, but then came Dan’s theological virtue of understanding. “What would Dan do?” That’s what I now think of when my mind goes elsewhere. Because, if I think of that and do that, then I’ll always be better for it. Dan - thanks for the 15-plus years of laughter, moments of clarity, and friendship.

I met Dan when he first started at the Vital Records. He was always a pleasure to be with, talk with, and had the sweetest voice and smile.  He smiled big when he spoke of family and you could tell they were the light of his world.  He was great at his job and always went above and beyond to help.  I am sooo sorry that he is gone and will say prayers for his family and friend but please know the family of County Clerks and Recorders that he met will be forever sad he is gone also. My deepest condolences to Nora and the family on Danny's passing. I had the privilege of working with him on several projects and Danny always exceeded my expectations - both as an employee and as an all-around great guy.

We were very saddened in learning the news of Dan’s passing. He was a very good man who was undisputedly a dedicated husband and father.
