Darlene D. "Peanut" Ackley

Darlene D. “Peanut” Ackley, 67, of Springfield, died at 12:30 p.m. on April 2, 2006 at her residence. Darlene was born on May 15, 1938 in Manteno, the daughter of Fred and Marie S. Reinken Grant. She married Harry Dale Ackley, Sr. in 1961; he preceded her in death in 1990. She graduated from Manteno High School. Darlene was a homemaker and loved to travel, sing and dance. She was also a giving and loving lady who always put others first. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Louis Grant and one sister: Mae LaFaber. She is survived by two daughters: Rene (fiancée, Joe Drendel) Ackley of Springfield and Darla Faye (fiancée, Gary Flanagan) Ackley of Springfield; two sons: Harry Dale Jr. (wife, Shawn) Ackley of Springfield and Richard A. (wife, Teresa) Ackley of Springfield; two grandchildren: Amanda Sue Ackley of Kansas City, MO and Harry Dale Ackley III of Springfield; three sisters: Eva Statler of Kankakee; Doris Peak of Jacksonville and Geraldine (husband, Russell) Bensema of Scottsdale, AZ and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, with Sandy Woodard officiating. Burial will follow at Cass Cemetery in Buffalo Hart. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1305 Wabash, Suite J, Springfield, IL 62704.
