David William Clark III

David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Russell Thornton, and David “Bill” and Norma Jean (Groce) Clark.

He is survived by his father, David (Donna) W. Clark, Jr.; mother, Gail (Ron) Gustin; partner, Lisa Grant; children, Zachary and Nathan Clark; grandmother, Betty Thornton; siblings, Josh (Jackie) Turasky, and Megan and Michelle Clark; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He will be deeply missed by Lisa, his life partner of 22 years, and their children. Dave loved spending time with his boys more than anything in life. He loved playing games with Nathan and listening to his silly stories. Dave and Zachary shared a passion for UFC, football, and World of Outlaws sprint car races.

He loved frequent visits with his mother and their priceless talks. Dave enjoyed spending time with his many cousins and friends. He often spent time with his older brother Josh and their boating friends on the river. Dave loved guns, going to his dad’s house to shoot, riding four-wheelers, and visiting his sisters to make them laugh.

In addition to his family, he counted among his dearest friends his coworkers at Sacred Heart Convent, where he worked as a custodian for 17 years. Dave was dedicated to serving the Dominican Sisters and loved to awe at his coworkers with the latest techno-gadgets. He will be remembered by his coworkers and the Dominican Sisters as a warm, kind, human being. They will miss his helping hands, his laughter, and his willingness to always go the extra mile to help everyone around him.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.

Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.

Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his family in memory of David W. Clark III at Marine Bank locations in Springfield.
