David Evan Goriszewski

David Evan Goriszewski, 51, of Springfield, died on July 29, 2017 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Twelve years ago, he had a cardiac event that left him paralyzed from the neck down. Dave was born on April 14, 1966. He graduated from Chatham Glenwood High School in 1984 and received a BS in Forestry from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale in 1994. Prior to his cardiac event, he lived in Spencer, IN. Dave enjoyed being outdoors and traveling to new and interesting places. He was passionate about issues affecting the environment and enjoyed spirited conversations about the natural world. He was a kind and caring person. Dave was the type of guy who would wave at a stranger, just to be friendly. He loved his niece and nephew and would go to great lengths to catch the ice cream truck, so they could have a cold treat. Dave is survived by his mother, Sharon (husband, John) Gipson; father, Joseph (wife, Vicki) Goriszewski; brother, Mike (wife, Linda) Goriszewski; nephew, Zach Goriszewski; and niece, Catie Goriszewski. Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church, 2800 W. Jefferson, Springfield with Dr. Rev. Paul Schwartzkopf officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
