

David Jonathan Myers, 67, of Springfield, died at 8:18 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center under the care of MMC Hospice, due to pancreatic cancer that was diagnosed in 2011.
David was born February 22, 1950 in Springfield, the son of James Edward and Edith Mandel Myers. He married Gale Marr in 1979 in Springfield.
David graduated from Windsor Mountain School in Lenox, MA and earned his bachelors degree in Legal Studies from the University of Massachusetts Boston in 1978. He was employed at the Illinois Department of Conservation in their legal division from 1978 1983. He then owned and operated Prairie House Custom Frames in Springfield from 1983 2009. David had many passions; first came his family and then his interests in horticulture, politics, and music. In 1990, he and Gale established "Shining Riddims," a promotor of reggae concerts for charitable organizations. Expanding his passion for horticulture, he and Gale also established Davidsans Japanese Maples tree nursery in 2007, west of Springfield, with no plans for retirement.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Gale Myers; daughters, Quinne Mandel Myers of Brooklyn, NY and Sierra Eden Myers of St. Louis, MO; his two pampered dogs, who are an important part of the family; brothers, Dr. James E. (wife, Leika) Myers, Jr. of Springfield and Richard D. (companion, Gloria Peterson) Myers of Petaluma, CA; sister, Judith Sarah (husband, Dr. Denny OBrien) Myers of Columbia, MO; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
