

David G. Snow, 71, of Saint Louis, MO, passed away following a brief illness on August 31, 2016. David was born on July 8, 1945 in Cleveland, OH, the son of George E. and Betty Jane (Helen) Nowack Snow. He married Melba J. (Beets) Glen on December 30, 2005 in Saint Louis, MO. David was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Aaron D. Snow. He is survived by his loving family: wife Melba, his daughter Renee M. Snow and granddaughters Tosin, Lade and Addison of Springfield, IL, daughter Laura M. Snow of Boston, MA, and son Collin D. Snow (Maryann) and grandson Peyton of Boston, MA; step-son Alan (Sheryl) Glen and granddaughter Amber of St. Louis, MO, step-daughter Amanda (Brenden) Petersen and grandchildren Blake and Ayla of Carbondale, CO; and sister Linda (Robert) Close of Ottawa, IL, niece Becky Gockel of Edwardsville, IL and nephew Mike Carpenter of Ottawa, IL. David had a huge heart and lived his life with generosity, optimism, and integrity. The values of which he bestowed on his family and friends. He was a man who followed his passions, had a love and curiosity of life, and genuinely enjoyed being an active member of many different communities and organizations over the years. Most notably, David was an active member of the Executive Board of the Arnold Rifle and Pistol Club, where he was elected and proudly served as Membership Officer. He thoroughly enjoyed his time at the gun club and yearly pheasant hunting trips to South Dakota. David had a long and successful career as a State Relations Manager for AT&T (retired in 1998) where he found his passion for public speaking, leadership and being a lifelong learner. After retirement he went on to graduate cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Greenville College (2000). He was an active member of the West County Toastmasters Club and a past local and district officer of Toastmasters International. He enthusiastically served on the Executive Boards of the American Marketing Association/Central Illinois Chapter and the Junior Achievement of Springfield & Sangamon County, as well as being a part of the Illinois Community College Economic/Workforce Development Association (ICCEDA). He was a member of Marseilles American Legion Post 235 and the Illinois Telecommunications Association. He enjoyed being a judge for the St Louis BBQ Society. Along with serving on these many organizations, David also very proudly served four years in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. His spirit and love of life will forever be cherished by his family and many friends. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 pm -7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 5th at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6th at Church of the Little Flower, 800 Stevenson Drive, Springfield. Burial will follow at Camp Butler.
