AVIS DE DÉCÈS

David Lee Thursby

12 novembre 19682 juin 2021

David Lee Thursby passed on on Wednesday June 2, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center.

David was a long-time member of Springfield Bible Church. He had attended Lanphier High School, Cono Christian School, and Word of Life Bible Institute (Schroon Lake, NY). He was also a beloved and long-time employee at Schnucks as well as Isringhausen Imports.

David was the son of Ocie and Annie Mae Thursby of Dallas, Tx. He is survived by family members in Texas: brothers Raymond Thursby and Randy Thursby; sisters Gwynetta Thursby and Terissa Thursby; brothers-in-law Dell Graves and Larry Young; sister-in-law Deattria Mosely; nephews Ladarius Carrie, John Bassett, Dominque Bassett, and David Thursby; and nieces Lorissa Thursby and Yolanda Ragsdale.

David was well known for his big smile, good sense of humor, sweet spirit, faithfulness and hard work. He developed many friendships at church, Schnucks, and Isringhausen's, and was appreciative of the many kindnesses of friends and acquaintances.

His favorite verse in the Bible was Proverbs 17:17: "A friend loveth at all times." And not surprisingly, he was the friend of many. He trusted in Jesus Christ as his Savior, and trusted in Jesus Christ's death on the cross as the full payment for sins and for eternal life.

David will be missed by many.

Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, Springfield. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday, with visitation beginning at 3:00 pm at the Springfield Bible Church location, 2060 Westchester Blvd. John Standard will be officiating.

Memorial gifts may be sent to Springfield Bible Church, 2060 Westchester Blvd., Springfield, IL 62704 (springfieldbible.org).

David was a gentle man. He was an inspiration to all with his spirit of dedication and a work ethic that would put many fully able people to shame. He refused to allow his physical limitations to dictate his activities and was eager to go out and do whatever needed done, whenever it needed to be done. I look forward to running around heaven with him and see his joyous face glowing with health.

I know David from Schnucks. He always had a smile on his face no matter what. I was impressed with his work ethic and his ability to get to work when others would not. Isiah 40:31 is one of my favorite versus. I took this picture of "Eddie the Eagle" several years ago in Warsaw, Illinois. I have changed Eddie's name to David soaring above us all and running wherever he travels in Heaven. God Bless You David.
Isaiah 40:31
31 but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

We saw David so many times at Schnuck's. When we would get to the check-out, he would smile and say, "Sir, this lane is closed." I don't know who laughed more, David or my husband.
What a privilege to meet such a wonderful young man. We miss you David, God's speed.

I shopped at Schnucks for years. Whenever I saw David always a smile and if I was hurting he would insist on taking groceries to the car. He would tell me, "have Ken take these in the house for you." He will be greatly missed.
We also worshipped at Springfield Bible Church together. Such great memories!

David is an example to all who met him. Such a lesson he shared with us. May his family and friends know he is thought of by many and will be remembered each time we head to Schnucks with a smile and a prayer.
