Deborah L. Sturgis

Deborah L. Sturgis, 54, of Springfield, died at 5:16 p.m. on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center. Deborah was born November 10, 1954 in Springfield, the daughter of Clarence and Evelyn Beard Croll. She married Michael Sturgis on February 14, 1976 at St. Frances Cabrini Church in Springfield. Deborah was a graduate of Southeast High School. She was employed as an analyst at AIG American General Life Insurance. She is survived by her husband of thirty-two years, Michael Sturgis of Springfield; father, Clarence (wife, Tammy) Croll of Springfield; mother, Evelyn Croll (companion, Don Delaney) of Springfield; two sons, James (wife, Erin) Sturgis of Mechanicsburg and Travis Sturgis of Springfield; two daughters, Suzann (husband, Brandon) Grippi of Mechanicsburg and Amanda Sturgis of Springfield; two grandchildren, Kayla and Ryan Grippi; one brother, Daniel (wife, Lisa) Croll of Rochester; four sisters, Diana (husband, Donald) McLaughlin of Springfield, Delores "DeDe" (husband, Derek) Bisch of Springfield, Donna Junkins (companion, Mike Coady) of Riverton and Dawn Cook (companion, Rick Gorman) of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 19, 2008 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1020 N. Milton Ave., Springfield with Rev. Richard Chiola celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation Greater Chicago, 17 N.
