He was born on November 19, 1946, in Springfield, the son of Benjamin F. and Julia A. (Fleming) Stelle. Dennis grew up in Virden and Thayer, and married Susan Hickey in Springfield.
Dennis graduated from Virden High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Dennis went on to work as a union coal miner. He enjoyed fishing with his daughters, and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Susan Stelle of Springfield; daughters, Lisa Ose and Cheryl (Alan) Carey, both of Springfield; son, David Stelle of Chatham; and six grandchildren.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
A Graveside Ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Department of Defense.
