

She was born Dec. 31, 1908 in Worden the daughter of Joseph and Anna Sideman Rotman. She married Benjamin B. Victor July 26, 1931 and he died in 1988. She was also preceded in death by a son Michael Victor II who died in 1960.
Mrs. Victor was a member of Temple B'rith Sholom where she was active in all temple activities. She had served on the national board of temple sisterhoods. She was a member of the Sangamo Club, Springfield Garden Club and Illinois Symphony Guild. In 1968 she served as Downstate Chairman of the Illinois Sesquicentennial Celebration. She served for many years on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Springfield.
Her ongoing contributions have been: creator and continuing benefactor of the Michael Victor II Art Library at the Springfield Art Association, a Library of over 5,000 volumes. She was organizer and board member of the Old Capitol Art Fair, a board member of the Springfield Art Association, a board member of the Illinois State Museum, a member of the original Illinois Executive Mansion Board and selector of art for the Art Fair Collection.
These contributions are however surpassed by the quiet encouragement and inspiration that she hae brought to many budding artists, artisans and art collectors.
She is survived by her son, Joseph R. Victor of Springfield; a sister, Ruth(husband,Abe) Silverman of St. Louis; four grandchildren, Ann Michele Victor, Julie Dee Victor, Lauren Chanel Victor and Joseph Winston(JW) Victor; 6 nieces and nephews, 16 great nieces and nephews and former daughters in law, Roanna Partlow Victor and Diana Levick Mallet.
Friends may call Friday Dec. 22, 2006 at Temple B'rith Shalom from 9:00am until the time of services there at noon with Rabbi Michael Datz officiating. Interment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Michael Victor II Foundation c/o the Sangamon County Community Foundation; Michael Victor II Library at the Springfield Art Association or to the Boys and Girls Club of Springfield.
