

Donald F. Bristow, 86, of Springfield, passed away at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at St. John's Hospital. Donald was born March 17, 1928 in Springfield, the son of Elmer D. and Frances Doolin Bristow. He married Dolores "Dodie" Mae Wolf on June 19, 1948 in Springfield. Donald was a 1946 graduate of Cathedral Boys High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Donald was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4175. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Betty Crouch and Sarah White. He is survived by his wife, Dolores "Dodie" Mae Bristow; his children, Michael James (wife, Tammy) Bristow of Riverton and Patrick Gerald (wife, Nancy) Bristow; his brother, Gerald Lee (wife, Masayo) Bristow of Oakland, CA; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 8:30 until 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at St. James Catholic Church, 112 North 6th St., Riverton. Funeral Mass: 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Raphael Paul de Moreno. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Department of Defense and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
