

Donald E. Creviston, 78, of Springfield, died at 2:35 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at St. John's Hospice. Donald was born November 12, 1935 in Springfield, the son of Page B. and Anna R. Smith Creviston. He married JoAnn Smith on September 19, 1959 at St. Joseph's Church in Springfield. She preceded him in death after 52 years of marriage, on April 2, 2011. A graduate of Feitshans High School, Don proudly served his country in the Army National Guard and retired as Command Sergeant Major. He was a business entrepreneur and later worked for the State of Illinois Department of Military Affairs. Donald enjoyed spending his free time washing and waxing his car, golfing, watching softball and western movies, spending time with his family and friends, and was a member of the Springfield Ski and Boat Club, as well as the 1200 N. 5th Club. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Page Creviston and Anna Creviston Rhodes; two brothers, John B. and Russell W. Creviston; and a sister, Joyce M. Breeding. Donald is survived by one son, Todd (wife, Sarah) Creviston of North Barrington; one daughter, Tracye (husband, Richard) Klassen of Springfield; two grandsons, Hayden W. Hauser and Tanner J. Klassen both of Springfield; four brothers, James R. (wife, Pat) Creviston of Springfield, Herschel D. (wife, LaDonna) Creviston of Decatur, Melvin L. (wife, Pat) Creviston of Rochester and David P. (wife, Karen) Creviston of Shelbyville; two sisters, Delores A. Creviston and Susan K. (husband, James) Cousin all of Springfield; two half-brothers, Steven L. (wife, Chris) Rhodes of Chapel Hill, TN and Jeffrey L. (wife, Rhonda) Rhodes of Springfield; one aunt and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, with Pastor Gary Winkleman officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the Department of Defense and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
