Donald Ray "Hoot" Day

He was born on August 7, 1933 in Springfield, the son of the late Roy and Violet Day. He married Gertrude E. “Trudy” Day in Pawnee, IL in 1955 and she preceded him in death on April 20, 2014.

Mr. Day worked for Near North Village in Springfield. He had previously owned his own construction company. He was a member of the TRN Club and loved to fish.

He is survived by a son Timothy R. Day of Iowa; a daughter Lisa L. (husband Kurt) Kanellos of Naperville, IL, 4 grandchildren- Evan, DeAnna, Zachary, and Timothy, Jr., a brother Jack (wife Donna) Day of Springfield, and several nieces and nephews.

Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, where visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015 at 1 pm, with Rev. Mark Gifford officiating. Burial will follow at Old Salem Cemetery, Springfield.
