

Donald Mitchell Falls, 63, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2014 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO surrounded by his loving family. Don was born April 14, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of George and Margueree Falls. At an early age he acknowledged Christ and joined Parkway Garden Christian Church in Chicago. Don attended James McCosh Elementary and Lynbloom High School, graduating in 1968. He matriculated from the prestigious University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana in 1973. Don was a member of the Illinois Jaycees since 1978 and was also named as an Outstanding Young Man of America in the same year. He held positions in his local chapter, the district, the region and on the national levels. His service to others was undeniable, and his heart for helping others was without compare. He was inducted into the JCI Senate in 1986. During his professional career, he was a Community Planner at the State of Illinois Dept. of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Don and Susan also owned Illini Software Center for over 15 years. He was preceded in death by his father. He was joined in marriage with Susan Mathy. This union was blessed with two children. He leaves the following to cherish his memory: His children, Spencer and Julia; their mother, Susan Martin (Brad); mother, Margueree; siblings, Shaun James (Joel), Kathe Davis (Larry), George Donaldson (Linda) and Kenneth Fondville (Joyce); and a host of relatives and friends. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
