

Don was born on March 28, 1937 in Mt. Pulaski, IL, the son of Abijah Green, Jr. and Lola Mae Reynolds Green. He married Peggy Wanless on February 16, 1957 in Springfield.
Don attended Feitshans High School. He served our country in the United States Navy. Don retired from Garrett Aviation Services where he worked in their modification department. Don enjoyed horseshoes, bowling, watching sports, and sharing stories of the past with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Ruby Agnew, Edith Dugan, Norma Goodman, and Joyce Robinson; and three brothers, Leland, Lee, and Gene Green.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Green of Springfield; two sons, Donald (wife, Vickie) Green, Jr. of Springfield and Daniel L. Green of Springfield; one grandchild, Cale (wife, Katie) A. Green of Waverly; two step-granddaughters, Nichole (husband, J.R.) Lauer of Chatham and Amy Redshaw of Springfield; great-grandchildren, Karson, Maddox, and Brantley Green, and Tinleigh Lauer; one sister, Louise Blankenship of Springfield; brothers-in-law, Ron (wife, Betty) Wanless and Deacon Robert (wife, Mary) Wanless; sisters-in-law, Pat (husband, David) Powell and Lynn Dreier; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave, Springfield. A Funeral Mass with be held at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Bergbower, celebrant. Burial will follow at Elkhart Cemetery with military honors provided by the Department of Defense.
