

Donald J. Melton, 75, of Springfield, died at 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2006 at St. John’s Hospice. Donald was born July 28, 1931 in Springfield, the son of Joseph and Mary Ruth Bogenschutz Melton. Donald worked for CWLP as an electrical engineer designing substations until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Church of the Little Flower. Donald was a funny and generous man. He liked to dance and watch sports. He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Keith A. Melton; and former wife: Patricia Melton. He is survived by two daughters: Deanna (husband, Brian) Duling of Phoenix, AZ, and Theresa M. Melton (fiancé, Eric Brackett) of Springfield; one son: Kevin J. Melton of Springfield; two grandchildren: Andrea M. Duling, and Joseph Melton; one sister: Virginia (husband, Robert) McCarnen of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation accorded by the Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. The family welcomes friends for a Memorial Gathering from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2006 at Church of the Little Flower, 800 Adlai Stevenson Dr., Springfield with Father Chuck Edwards, celebrant.
