Donna Belle Fischer

Donna Belle Fischer, 68, of Girard, formerly of Springfield, died at 10:50 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at Pleasant Hill Village in Girard. Donna was born on January 18, 1938 in Springfield, the daughter of Thomas M. and Zella German Armstead. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Springfield and received her license for X-Ray Technology in St. Louis. She held several positions as an X-Ray technician, the most recent at the Orthopedic Center of Central Illinois. She was a member of the Catholic Faith. She was a devoted mother who loved children, animals, traveling, dancing and playing games of all kinds. Donna was preceded in death by her mother. She is survived by three daughters: Michelle Fischer of Decatur, Karen (husband, Tom) Prange of Kansas City, MO and Susan (husband, Bill) Robinson of Springfield; four grandchildren Maxwell and Sarah Faye Prange and Grace and Emma Robinson; one brother, Thomas L. (wife, Janet) Armstead of Springfield; her father, Thomas M. (wife, Mary Rose) Armstead of Springfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins and her former husband, Carl (wife, Kay) Fischer of Petersburg. The family welcomes friends to visit from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th. St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2006 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2119 N. 20th St., Springfield with Father Donald Meehling celebrant.
