Doris Louise Minett, 87, of Springfield, died at 9:38 p.m. on Monday, February 11, 2008 at St. John's Hospital. Doris was born September 26, 1920 in Versailles, the daughter of Frank and Hazel Ravenscroft Gifford. They preceded her in death. She married John "Jack" Minett, he preceded her in death in 1979. Doris was the owner/operator of a beauty shop in her home for many years. She was a member of Christian Assembly Church. She was also preceded in death by a step-son: John Minett, Jr.; a step-brother: Carl E. Harris; and a step-sister: Helen Harris. She is survived by a step-daughter-in-law: Connie Minett of Springfield; two step-grandsons: Michael (Bonnie) Minett of New Berlin and John L. Minett of Springfield; one step-granddaughter: Debbie Sue (Mike) May; seven step-great grandchildren; and 1 step-great-great-grandchild. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until the time of funeral ceremonies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Vaughn Beeman officiating. Graveside ceremonies will be at 10:00 am Friday, February 15, 2008, at Versailles Westside Cemetery in Versailles, IL. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
