Doris J. Nelson, 83, of Springfield, passed away at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 6, 2012 at her residence. Doris was born August 19, 1928 in Decatur, the daughter of Harriett Ruth Bensken. Doris retired from the State of IL as a secretary with the Department of Public Aid. She enjoyed puzzles, crossword puzzles, reading, and knitting. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Warren Bensken. She is survived by her daughter, Kristina Nelson of Springfield; granddaughter, Jessica (husband, David) Mitchell II; two great-grandchildren; and three nephews. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
