Doris Anna Talbott

Doris A. “Dory” Talbott, 91, of Springfield, passed away on March 16, 2026 at her residence. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 3, 1934, the daughter of Richard and Florence Shanklin. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Richard Shanklin and one sister Joan Fox. Dory married Al Talbott on July 20, 1985 and he preceded her in death on August 24, 2022.

Dory has four children and two stepchildren: Cherryl (Dave) Walker, Douglas (Kathi) Beahringer, Donald (Shari) Beahringer, Carrie (Butch) Huggins, Kim (Bill) Chestnut and Robert (Jane) Talbott She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren who made her so proud and she dearly loved them all.

Dory was a graduate of Sangamon State University and was a retiree from the State of Illinois Senate. Dory and Al were active members in FMCA and Dory was an active volunteer in Federated J. Women’s Club and many other organizations. She loved to travel with Al in their motorhome, spend time with family and friends, tell stories about her life and family, Christmas, reading, gardening and listening to smooth jazz music.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Friday March 20, 2026 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen Street with burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
