Dorothy J. Blair

Dorothy J. Blair, 82, of Springfield, peacefully passed away at 6:15 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. Dorothy was born on November 17, 1930 in Springfield, the daughter of Edward and Irene Kane. She married John J. Blair, Sr. on February 9, 1957 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Springfield; he preceded her in death in 1982. Dorothy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and wife. She attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School, Springfield High School and Brown's Business College. She was a charter member of Christ the King Parish and spent numerous years volunteering at Memorial Hospital. Dorothy had a great sense of humor and spirit for life. She enjoyed good food, music, dancing, shopping, and loved spending time with her family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Mary Allison Blair; and her siblings, Edward Kane, Thomas Kane, Irene Kane, Rita Reed, and Patricia Hudson. She is survived by her sons, John J. (wife, Ellen) Blair, Jr. of Springfield and Andrew T. Blair, M.D. of San Francisco, CA; daughter, Susan (husband, Gary) Westfall of Richmond, VA; four grandchildren, Morgan (husband, Marco) Pambianco, Meredith Blair, Lauren Westfall, and Tara Westfall; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Monday, August 19, 2013 at Christ the King Church, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield. Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 19, 2013 at Christ the King Church with Rev. Joseph Ring and Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz, celebrants.
