
Dorothy Dot Hendrick, 80, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at St. Johns Hospital. Dot was born on November 3, 1938, in Jackson, TN, the daughter of Walter and Ellie Duck Edgin. She married John T. Hendrick on December 9, 1957, in Hickman, KY; he preceded her in death on February 1, 2011. Dot earned her associates degree from Springfield Area Vocational College and was employed as a LPN at St. Francis Convent until her retirement in 2004. She was a member of Living Church of God, TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) and Silver Sneakers. Dot enjoyed playing games on the computer, sewing, crocheting, coloring, and listening to audiobooks. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Herman, Fred, Dee, and Jay; and four sisters, Maureen, Donia, Ruby, and Betty. Dot is survived by her son, John (wife, Jackie) Hendrick of Petersburg; daughters, Debi (husband, Jon Aukamp) Hendrick of Decatur and DeeDee Abbott of Springfield; grandchildren, Michael, Brandon, Eric, Michele, Cody, Kayla, Holli, Amanda, Lori, Ashley, Billy, Phillip, and Matthew; eighteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Kirlin- Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Dr. Richard Franz officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 3750 W. Wabash Ave., Springfield, IL 62704.
