Dorothy Rose Ford

Dorothy Rose Ford, 92, of Springfield, passed away at 5:49 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Concordia Village Care Center. Dorothy was born June 28, 1923 in Springfield, the daughter of Frank and Coral Geary Smoker. She married James E. Ford on November 3, 1945 in Springfield; he preceded her in death on March 10, 2002. Dorothy was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, sewing and playing bridge. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Margie Williams; and sister, Frances Trainor. She is survived by her son, David (wife, Karen) Ford of Springfield; daughters, Carol (husband, Chuck) McCarrel of Rochester and Mary (husband, Steve) Cavanaugh of Highland Park, IL; son-in-law, Dick Williams of Springfield; grandchildren, Charlie (wife, Kate) McCarrel, Ryan (Kristie) Ford, Katie (fianc, Travis Weldon) Ford, Kelley (fianc, Danny Stork) Ford, and Maddie and Sophie Cavanaugh; two great-grandchildren; Fiona and Miles McCarrel; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A Funeral Ceremony will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Ring officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
