

PEORIA - Dorothy Ann (Bale) Maloney, 73, of Peoria passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 13, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield, Illinois on March 9, 1944 to Mary Alice (Dodds) and George Bale of Auburn, IL. She married Thomas Maloney in 1966. She is survived by her three children, Pamela A. Alwan (Joseph Jr.) of Princeville, Cindy R. Morris (John), and Thomas M. Maloney II (Erin), both of Peoria. She also leaves behind her twelve beloved grandchildren, Mason Alwan (Natalia Wojnarowski) of Chicago, Caitlin, Matthew, and Joseph Alwan III of Princeville, Jordan and Taylor Morris of Peoria, and Merrick, Aidan, Quinn, Brennan, Sloan, and Elliot Maloney of Peoria. She is also survived by her brother George Evan Bale of Springfield, cousin Alexandria Pete Dodds of Tucson, Arizona, and sisters-in-law Sandy (Rick) Kopp and Dianna Sue (Jerry) Twyman. She was preceded in death by her parents. She was very proud of her rural roots and the familys Centennial Farm in Auburn, IL. As a young girl, Dorothy was active in 4-H, raising livestock, riding horses, and loved reading books. She graduated from Methodist College of Nursing in 1965. When her children were growing up, Dorothy was active in the Hines School PTO, Christian Womens Club, First United Methodist Church of Peoria, and Willow Knolls Country Club. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who never missed a family birthday and loved keeping track of and attending her grandchildrens activities. She was an avid student of current events, loved watching the news, and reading the paper every day of her life. She never missed the opportunity to vote in an election. She loved her country and was always interested in having a discussion about local, state and national issues. Dorothy will be remembered for her devotion to her family, whom she loved with all she had. Her perseverance through her long battle with rheumatoid arthritis was admired by her family and all who knew her. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Wright Salmon Mortuary in Peoria. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Staab Polk Funeral Home, 8855 State Route 4,Chatham, IL., with a one hour prior visitation. A private burial will take place at a later date at Cumberland Sugar Creek Cemetery in Auburn, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to OSF Hospice or the Arthritis Foundation. Special thanks to all the doctors and nurses who cared for Dorothy in particular Nurses Caring for People, who were angels caring for her in her final days
